39 Miles for the Bust

On July 12 - 13, my mom and I participated in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in San Francisco. Over the two days we walked 39.3 miles. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I was so excited and proud of my mom and I for not only finishing the walk but also raising the money and training too. We spent a lot of time and energy getting things ready for this event, and it was worth it!
We walked in honor of a close family friend. She was my mom's best friend and acted as a second mom to me when I first moved to La Jolla, Ca. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in 2004 and fough
t for 4 years before she passed in January 2008. She was an amazing woman and walking in memory of her was a wonderful way to honor her. My mom and I have the full intention of making this an annual event (but hopefully making our team a little bigger)!

Go Nicole. I'm so proud of you. I hope this tradition sticks with you and your mom, getting celebrated annually. :)
